John Morehead is a self-taught artist based in Banner Elk, NC, known for creating distinctive sculptural works from found and repurposed materials. Working from his studio, The Fish Factory, Morehead transforms discarded everyday objects into whimsical fish sculptures that reflect both creativity and a commitment to sustainability.
Jean Morehead, a retired art and math teacher, continues her love of creating art at The Cove Studio, formerly at Lake Tillery, now in Banner Elk. Her favorite media to work with are pencil and watercolors. Jean specializes in portraits of both people and animals, as well as rural and river scenes through the use of pencil and watercolors.
Katie Boyette discovered her true creative focus through the practice of birding. What began as a disciplined form of nature journaling to distinguish species has evolved into a dedicated artistic celebration of avian beauty and diversity. Katie aims to translate personal observations into a shared experience, fostering a love for these creatures to spark a collective commitment to their conservation and protection of their habitats.
Vicki Skywark has been an active member of the Blue Ridge Fiber Guild since 2018, and has explored the fiber arts for about 70 years. Alongside her creations, Vicki has also taught workshops through the Fiber Guild and the Watauga Arts Council.
