Carol Query
Carol Query has been creating art for as long as she can remember. One of her earliest memories as a young artist involves an attempt at self-critique that went humorously awry. At just four years old, she decided to “reject” her own work by flushing it down the commode, only to have it (and the plumbing) reject her in return.
Art has always been a shared passion in her life. Her mother, also an artist, encouraged creativity through collaborative painting sessions. Together, they would set up an oil palette and a work-in-progress in their hallway, inviting one another to add the next brushstroke.
In the 1960s, Carol completed the well-known Famous Artists Course, earning a certificate in Commercial Art. Her first commissioned portrait, completed in 1962, marked a pivotal moment, where her client paid her double her asking price, affirming both her talent and dedication.
Over the decades, Carol has remained committed to her artistic growth through books, instructional videos, and in-person workshops. While balancing life’s demands, she continued to create, developing a particular love for portraiture and commissioned work. She works across a range of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel.
For Carol, art has always been a sanctuary. Although she did not enter her work into exhibitions until 2023, she quickly found recognition, earning first place in her debut show. She finds it especially meaningful that her work resonates with others, bringing them the same sense of enjoyment and connection that art has always given her.
