Alicia Green
Alicia Green explores and documents images that uplift women around the world. Finding ways to showcase the amazing things that women are doing in their communities is the fuel that drives her photography. Green grew up in Wisconsin, served in the US Navy, and has put down roots in Boone with her husband and two children. She started the marketing agency, EddyLine Creative. Previous photography awards include: A Long Hope Fly, winner of AMPC’s Culture Category 2018, and Carport Kickflip, winner of AMPC’s Culture Category 2021.

“My images in the exhibit are just the start of a bigger collection of photographs that showcase women of all ages owning their places in typically male-dominated fields. By photographing women in these worlds, I am obliged to affirm that women belong in these places, that there is value in their presence. When more people see images that challenge our assumptions of where women work and play, it increases the likelihood that more women will see themselves in those places. It’s hard to see ourselves in places where we don’t see people like us. Representation matters. Let’s see what we can be.”
