Downtown Boone will welcome another evening of art, music, and community on Friday, September 4th, with the return of First Friday Art Crawl! Coordinated by the Watauga Arts Council (WAC) in partnership with the Downtown Boone Development A
ssociation, First Friday brings together local artists, galleries, businesses, musicians, and community members for creative experiences throughout downtown.
Residents and visitors are invited to explore local art, shop handmade work, catch live music, visit new exhibitions, and enjoy special events throughout the evening. Highlights for September include:
Local Artists & Youth Makers on King St (4-8 p.m.) - Local artists will be stationed along King Street selling their handmade work, while young creatives from the Watauga Arts Council’s Youth Makers program will set up along the Turchin Center sidewalks.
Exhibit Openings & Art Crawl Festivities at The Turchin Center (5-8 p.m.) - Explore the Turchin Center’s current exhibitions while connecting with local artists and fellow art appreciators. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be available throughout the evening.
Art Market & Live Music at Fizz Ed (5-8 p.m.) - Stop by Fizz Ed for an indoor art market featuring work from local creators. Andy Page will provide live music from 5-7 p.m. while visitors shop and explore the market.
Opening Exhibition Reception at The Jones House (5-7 p.m.) - Celebrate the opening of a new exhibition by Madelyn Foskey at the Jones House! Meet the artist, view and purchase work, and enjoy light refreshments during the opening reception.
Free Screening of GOAT at Appalachian Theatre (6-7:40 p.m.) - Appalachian Theatre presents a free First Friday screening of GOAT (2026). No tickets or RSVP are required to attend.
Live Music at SouthEnd Brewing (6-9 p.m.) - Ari Silver & Band will take the stage at SouthEnd Brewing. Stop in for food and drinks and stay for an evening of live music!
Live Music at Lost Province Brewing (6-9 p.m.) - Enjoy the atmosphere at Lost Province while listening to live music from New River Overlook throughout the evening.
SAMSARA Opening at Nth Degree Gallery (7 p.m.) - Nth Degree Gallery (683 W King St, located above Off the Rack) invites the community to the opening of SAMSARA, a solo exhibition by Ashlynd Scavotto. The opening begins at 7 p.m. and is BYOB.
DJ Night at Wild Craft Eatery (9 p.m.-Midnight) - Keep the evening going at Wild Craft Eatery with a late-night DJ set and dancing. This event is 21+ with a $5 cover.
Live Music at Boone Saloon (9:30 p.m.) - End your Art Crawl with live music from Funkelstiltskin with Hellbender at Boone Saloon. This event is 21+.
September is a big month for the arts in Downtown Boone! Just one week after First Friday, the Watauga Arts Council will present Buskers Fest 2026 on Saturday, September 12th. The open-air arts festival will bring artists, musicians, performers, demonstrations, interactive activities, and more throughout downtown.
