Deadline Extended: The Art of Jazz Exhibition
An upcoming WAC gallery exhibition has extended its deadline to apply to March 31st.

If you’ve been keeping up with our socials or newsletter, you may remember that WAC released the Call for Art for our upcoming gallery exhibition, The Art of Jazz, earlier this year. Since the initial call was announced, we’ve made a few updates to help make the exhibition more welcoming and accessible to all artists.
Originally, the exhibition was limited to painting, but we’ve since expanded the accepted media to include 2-D work such as painting, drawing, and collage (photography not accepted).
Additionally, the Call for Art deadline has been extended to March 31, giving interested artists an extra month to finalize and submit their work.
Earlier this year, WAC introduced a new gallery system that features four exhibitions annually, each centered around a unique theme and juried by local arts leaders and artists with expertise across various media. While The Art of Jazz will be exhibited in WAC’s gallery, the show is also intended to connect with the greater High Country Jazz Festival, which called for a slightly different exhibition model this time around.
To help support the exhibition, we’ve introduced a $35 application fee, which will go toward funding a cash prize for Best in Show.
In addition to the gallery exhibition, a special reception will take place on June 11 at the Appalachian Theatre. Artwork will be safely transported for the reception, remain at the theatre for the weekend, and then return to WAC’s gallery for the remainder of the exhibition.
The Art of Jazz will be on view May 5 through June 30. Stay tuned for additional programming and events connected to the exhibition!
