Celebrate Local Art at the Arts Placement Artist Reception

The Watauga Arts Council invites the community to celebrate local art and the artists participating in our Arts Placement Program during November’s First Friday Art Crawl!

Join us on November 5th from 5:30–7:30 PM at Explore Boone for an Arts Placement Artist Reception. Hosted at one of our Arts Placement partner locations, this free community event is an opportunity to meet participating artists, experience artwork currently on display, and connect with fellow art lovers from across the High Country.

Light refreshments will be available as guests mingle and explore the artwork throughout Explore Boone.

Bringing Art Into Community Spaces

The Watauga Arts Council’s Arts Placement Program brings original artwork by local and regional artists into businesses, hospitality organizations, and public spaces throughout the community. Through rotating, gallery-style exhibitions, the program provides artists with opportunities for greater exposure while bringing local creativity into the everyday spaces where our community lives, works, and gathers.

Arts Placement is made possible through partnerships with community organizations that open their spaces to local and regional artwork. These partnerships create new opportunities for artists to share their work with audiences who may not otherwise visit a traditional gallery setting.

Meet the Artists

The current Arts Placement exhibition at Explore Boone features work by:

Guests at the reception will have the chance to view these works in person while celebrating the artists and the continued growth of the Arts Placement Program.

Artwork is also currently on display at the Seby Jones Cancer Center, featuring:

  • Becca Nenow

In addition, artwork is also on display at the Boone Chamber of Commerce, featuring:

  • Katie Boyette

  • Aaron Johnson

  • Kathy Graham

  • Select works on loan from Cathy Futral, Ron Skelton, & Cara Hayes

Together, these exhibitions demonstrate the variety of artistic voices and perspectives found throughout our region.
