Call for Art - Watauga Arts Council: The Art of Jazz, a Painted Response

WAC has opened their next call for art for an upcoming May exhibit inspired by the High Country Jazz Fest! Open to all painting mediums, artists are encouraged to create pieces which answer the question: “What does jazz mean to you?”

Deadline to apply is March 6th, 2026. Application costs $35.

This exhibit is planned to be hosted in an external venue with the potential for increased exposure and other exciting opportunities, like cash prizes.

Call for Sculptors - The Turchin Center: Rosen Sculpture Competition

The 40th annual 2026 Rosen Sculpture Competition at Appalachian State University is officially accepting submissions!

Deadline to apply is March 6th, 2026. Application costs $45.

Boone Barndog ColorParty @ Bald Guy Brew

Join Boone Barndog at Bald Guy Brew on March 5th from 5-8pm to enjoy some social coloring time. Pick out an 11x17 poster, grab a coffee, and get to coloring! Markers will be provided.

Root & Rise Fundraiser for Full Moon Farm @ Fizz Ed

FizzEd will be hosting a night full of art festivities along with chances to directly support Full Moon Farm on February 6th, 2026.. This will be an all day fundraiser (held from 11am-midnight) at Fizz Ed, giving audiences the chance to support local artists while also donating to a great cause. Expect to experience live music, a dance party, and an artist market!


Call for Art: Deep Gap Mural

The Watauga Arts Council is seeking mural art submissions for an upcoming mural project in Deep Gap, part of a larger Rural Mural Trail project in the works.

Call for Art: Downtown Boone Art Alleyway

Downtown Boone is seeking artist proposals for an incoming mural at the entrance of the alleyway in downtown Boone. Murals will celebrate Boone's natural environment, cultural heritage, and sense of place.

Both local and regional artists, whether emerging or established are welcome to apply.

Deadline: February 13th, 2026 at 5pm

Friends of Blue Ridge: Volunteers Needed!

Friends of the Blue Ridge is seeking volunteers for their Appalachian Theatre front lobby table at the BooneDocs Film Festival on Saturday Feb 28. One 90-minute shift gets you free admission for the day!

BooneDocs Film Festival Art Walk with Wes Waugh

Experience an immersive nature walk at the Greenway featuring creative learning experiences with renowned artist Wes Waugh during this guided Art Walk!

Event Details: The Art Walk offers a unique blend of nature exploration and creative instruction:

  • Time & Date: Sunday, March 1, 2026, starting at noon.

  • Nature Hike: A one-hour guided hike along the Boone Greenway and local nature trails.

Participants will use drawing paper to capture prompted settings under the guidance of renowned artist and conservationist Wes Waugh.

  • Art Class: The walk concludes at the Watauga Arts Council for a "shadow-me" watercolor class taught by Waugh.

  • Documentary Filming: Filmmaker and accomplished photographer Jesse Barber will be filming segments of the event for potential inclusion in a future documentary.
