“These two pieces are very personal.

Kam kam ruz be ruz is a Persian phrase that means "little by little, day by day". The image is of an Iranian girl, who during the war in Iran was swinging at the beach in the Strait of Hormuz, with the smoke of bombs in the background. During this time, I was waiting with my family to hear from our relatives in Iran who had been in a complete internet blackout. These were days of many mixed emotions and a lot of uncertainty. The phrase kam kam ruz be ruz was (and is) a mantra that I repeat often.

Sueños, the Spanish word for dreams, is a piece that represents the hopes and dreams the millions undertake as they attempt migration from different countries in Latin America to the United States. As migration policies in the United States make dreams for current and future migrants harder to achieve, in many cases, turning them into nightmares, I find hope in groups, organizations, and communities that come together to support and help our most vulnerable community members.”
