Support WAC at Fizz Ed this Sunday during an Art Showcase!
Art Showcase
On April 12 from 2 to 4 p.m., four Communications Studies seniors from Appalachian State University will host “Funding the Future of Art” at FizzEd. This community-centered event aims to celebrate creativity while raising awareness and support for the local arts scene.
Funding the Future of Art is an inclusive art showcase open to both university art majors and talented local artists from Watauga County. Participants are encouraged to submit pieces that reflect their individuality, personal stories, and artistic perspectives. The showcase promises a diverse range of artwork, offering attendees the chance to see everything from traditional mediums to more experimental and contemporary expressions.

Watauga Arts Council was honored to be contacted by these Communications students, who asked WAC to be the beneficiary of this event. Proceeds from the fundraiser will directly benefit the Watauga Arts Council, helping to sustain and expand arts programming throughout the region. While participation in the showcase and attendance are free, donations are encouraged and will be accepted at the door, making it easy for attendees to contribute to a meaningful cause.
Special guest Amber Bateman, Executive Director of the Watauga Arts Council, will be in attendance to share insight into the vibrancy and growth of local arts initiatives. Bateman will speak about WAC’s presence in the region, and our excitement to partner with students and businesses alike to further our mission of uplifting the arts in the High Country.
The event also serves as a celebration of collaboration and student leadership. Organizers Alyson, Tierney, Kaytlin, and Sarina have worked diligently alongside FizzEd and the Watauga Arts Council to create an engaging and meaningful experience for both artists and attendees.
We invite all to come out and see the artwork submitted for this showcase, and meet a couple of artists while you’re at it!
