Beginner Batiks for ALL Ages with Kathleen Bartemes
In this class, anyone of ANY age can come up with a wonderful, colorful image in a single afternoon.
Together we will explore the process of painting wax using a tjaunting tool onto cloth which is stretched over a frame, then dying the material with colorful dyes. Once the wax is removed (with a hot iron - we'll help any of the younger ones with this task) you will have a unique work of art!
This will be a relaxed session held on a monthly basis. The fee of $14 includes all materials and instruction.

Meet the Instructor
Kathleen is a retired teacher after 38 years of teaching art in Florida.As an art teacher, she is familiar with virtually every medium.She is excited about offering some of her favorite mediums that were particularly enjoyed by her students in a variety of workshops.One of her favorites is batik.She has always loved batik and has honed her skills in batik by attending workshops, mostly in New Mexico.She has applied that in her classroom with her middle-school students.She now has moved permanently to Boone and is getting involved in the arts community.
