Days and times: Mondays, 1-3 pm Age Range: 14-114 years-old Cost: $100 if you bring your own supplies, $135 to use class supplies. Class Description: The Zen Buddhist monks introduced the Northern Sung style of painting to Japan during the Muromachi period in the 14th century. During the Shogunate era, the Southern Sung style flourished. You will learn the basic strokes of traditional Japanese Sumi-e painting, bamboo, orchid, plum blossom as well as Bonsai tree, flowers, and birds. We will also paint the royal flower of Japan, the chrysanthemum. If you are continuing classes from a previous set you will be given additional activities that will align with your level of progression. |
