Visual artist Karin Neuvirth is best known for her textural, vibrant palette knife paintings. Her style of painting involves many layers of paint which she applies with a palette knife utilizing the technique of using broken color to create a sense of movement within her work. Color is the most prominent element in her work. In order to form a more thorough understanding of color, she chooses to mix all of the colors that she uses from only the primary colors and white.
Karin grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota where the winters were always difficult for her. The cold grey days took a toll on her mood, but as she developed her style of painting, she found that the vibrant colors helped her to combat the melancholy that the weather caused her. She currently lives in Boone, NC where she is especially inspired by the nature around her. |
Lindsay Carroll, b.1990, is a portrait and figurative artist based in the High Country of North Carolina. Lindsay is a member of the Portrait Society of America, a featured artist in Painters of Ashe County, and the recipient of numerous awards for artworks featured in local juried exhibitions. The current oil works of Lindsay Carroll portray "form uncovered." Nudes—her primary subject matter—take center stage in these works which have been described as "smooth," "dramatic," and "detailed." Each painting is carefully planned and executed with diligence in an attempt to portray the personality of the model. Objects or symbols that are meaningful to the model often appear in her paintings. Inspired by contemporary realist artists such as Megan Elizabeth Reed and Roberto Ferri, Lindsay's work embraces a dramatic tone—aided by the careful consideration of where light and shadow fall in her compositions.

Jack Hamrick lives and paints in a cabin on a trail head in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. His environment informs and infuses his art with intense organic energy and color.
Hamrick creates art that transports the viewer through a sublimated experience of visceral arousal. Using paint to render colorful, energetic compositions, and saturating the canvas with complimentary oil and acrylic pigments is one of his greatest joys in life. Art history, other artists, life experience, and nature provide ready sources of inspiration for Hamrick's paintings. He is fascinated by color and color theory, and use both in a practiced and studied manner. Through an unconventional childhood marked by spontaneous change, remote travel, atypical experience, and adaptation, Hamrick learned to study, question, and redefine convention. Symbolism, metaphor, and preconscious meaning are imbedded and suggested throughout his art. |
