With the challenge presented of painting an instrument for this art installation, I wanted to create something that utilized the form of the instrument itself. The soundhole of the guitar provided the perfect opportunity to choose a subject that was a little quirky and would bring a smile to one’s face. We all know that “Everything is Better with a Donut” and a cup of coffee to go with it. Trying new things and finding the creativity and fun in something as simple as a donut has been an inspiration for my artwork this year. While this was a departure from my style and the subject matter I typically paint, I hope this brings as much joy to those who see it as it did for me to paint.
