In honor of Boone’s 150th year anniversary, Watauga Arts Council (WAC) is hosting a “Paint the Town!” event. We invite Plein Air (outdoor) painters of all mediums and abilities to come to paint the beloved scenery of Downtown Boone and its expanded areas. Artists are invited to set up small stations at locations that inspire them to capture the scenery.
Rolling Check-In: Check in any day you choose to join the event Monday - Saturday at Cheap Joes Art Stuff. Get your welcome kit, stamp your canvas, and shop for any last minute necessities with 10% off your purchase.
Locations: Your Check-In Bag will offer info about restrooms and can't-miss locations.
Painting Submissions: Turn paintings in at the King Street Art Collective Gallery in Downtown Boone on Friday from 3-5pm or on Saturday from 10am - 2 pm.
Wet Paint Sale: Saturday, May 21, from 6-8pm with refreshments
80/20 commission split on all paintings sold at the Wet Paint Sale
Awards will be given to two categories Professional and Emerging artists.

Painting Pick-Up: If you elect not to include your paintings in our rollover gallery exhibit - "Scenes of the High Country", you may get your painting at 8pm on Saturday or on Sunday from 10 am -12 pm.
Rain Plan: We will open our huge gallery/event space for indoor painting in the event that we have a rainy week. Participants would be welcome to take photos of their favorite locations and paint indoors if desired.
SPECIAL INVITATION: Breakfast & Paint at Lovill House Inn
High Country Plein Air Painters invite participants to join them for a meet-and-greet breakfast and paint session on Wednesday, May 18th from 9am - 12pm, at the Historic Lovill House Inn. Lovill House Inn will provide a delicious breakfast for purchase when you arrive. You can RSVP for breakfast on our registration form. Breakfast is not required to participate.
The breakfast is $15 per person and includes: Coffee/Tea Orange Juice/Apple Cider Seasonal Fruit Breakfast Breads and Pastries Yogurt and Local Granola Hard Boiled Eggs Ham and Bacon Assorted Cheese Local Jam and Honey

Scenese of the High Country: A BOONE 150 SHOWCASE
On Saturday, May 21st, a “Paint the Town!” wet paint show will be held at the King Street Art Collective, at 585 West King Street, from 6 - 8 pm. Pictures from the wet paint show can remain in the gallery to be included in our Boone 150 showcase exhibit that will run from May to the end of June.
Painters can stop by Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff from 10am - 6pm Monday - Friday have their canvases stamped and pick up a welcome bag. “Paint the Town” participants will receive 10% off purchases. Paintings will be received at WAC’s King Street Art Collective gallery on Friday from 1-3pm and Saturday from 10am - 1pm. The Paint the Town Boone 150 Showcase will commence from 6pm - 8pm Saturday, May 21st.
