Recently returning to her home town, Maggie Flanigan has spent the past two years working in education and galleries in Richmond, VA. Maggie holds a BFA in Studio Art from Appalachian State University and an MFA in Photography from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. Being deeply entrenched in education is of utmost importance to her career, staying engaged in the art community both through gallery and museum work as well as teaching brings balance into her personal art practice. Currently teaching as an Adjunct Instructor at Appalachian State and Caldwell Community College are just a few ways Maggie maintains this balance. While her personal art practice centers around ideas of intimacy and immediacy through the use of alternative photographic methods and printmaking techniques, Flanigan is deeply saturated in the art community and finds inspiration in all forms of contemporary art practices from objects to performance and mixed media digital arts.
