Januray 2011 Gallery Information

On Friday night, January 7th, as part of the Downtown Boone Art Crawl the Watauga Arts Council located in the Jones House at 604 W. King Street will have a new exhibit and an opening reception from 6:30pm until 8:00pm with refreshments and is open to the public.

In the Mazie Jones Gallery and the Open Door Gallery we will feature the work of the art teachers of Watauga County schools. The Arts Council is proud to present the artwork of some of our very talented art teachers from elementary, middle, and high school. These teachers come from varied backgrounds and some have grown up right here in Watauga County. They all share a love of art and feel privileged to be able to instill some art appreciation to our students here in this area.  Some say that they learn along with their students as they try to show them the latest techniques used by artists in many mediums.  This show will reflect artwork in pencil, paint, fibers, clay, collage, and other mixed media.

Some have exhibited their work before and for some this will be a first exhibit.  We are so fortunate to have such dedicated and talented individuals to teach our children about the wonderful world of art and what they might be able to accomplish with their own talents. Come to the reception on Friday, January 7th, at 6:30pm to meet the artists and hear more of their individual stories.
